Satyagraha Takes Us Beyond Gandhi

suppose it was through the nonviolent revolutionaries of recent decades here in the U.S. that I came to be curious about the career and discoveries of Mahatma Gandhi. In him we were to find the first leader to apply on a mass scale the power of love to the problems of political freedom and revolution. The one man who led the millions against an empire and won. The fighter for the rights of all, and for the rights of the most abused and discarded of society, the untouchables. The one who proved that truth and love could do so much more than had ever been thought.
By now my own studies, my own experiments, have confirmed some of Gandhi's message, and have brought other parts of it (or what the world has made of it) into question.
